Experiments in Movement and Lyric Poetry

Poems. Three. Experiments in Movement and Lyric Poetry sets three of my own poems for choir, and asks the singers to move as they sing.

Over the course of the piece, the ensemble travels from a wide outer circle, facing one another, into a tight, interwoven group: a smaller circle, then hands held, then each singer alone in their own posture and direction, and finally a gentle pile of bodies leaning into one another, breathing as one, eyes closed, cutting off together. The movement is a physical gesture of empathic connection.
